Dolly Parton’s tear-jerking tribute to husband as she makes first appearance after his death

Since Carl Dean’s passing, Dolly Parton has made her first public appearance.

The music icon’s 79-year-old husband, Carl, passed away on March 3 at the age of 82, leaving her devastated earlier this month. The couple, who had been dating since 1964, wed in 1966, and renewed their engagement in 2016 to commemorate their 50th anniversary.

The My Heart Will Go On singer surprised fans on Friday when she opened the celebrations to mark 40 years of the film’s release. The performer donned a magenta dress, put on a brave face, and performed music at the venue’s Dollywood theme park.

The actress admitted to being confident that her late husband would have wanted her to join the celebrations. She also shared her deepest feelings for her late husband.

The singer stated to WVLT, “Of course I will always love him, and I’ll miss him, but I wanted you to know that I will always love you.” Before bowing out after performing Celebrate the Dreamer in You, Dolly then revealed the plans for the upcoming Dollywood celebrations.

Dolly was devastated to learn that her husband passed away earlier this month. She stated in a statement that Dolly Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, passed away on March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82. He will be interred in a private ceremony with immediate family present. His siblings, Sandra and Donnie, also survive him.

Carl and I had many wonderful years together, she continued. Words cannot adequately express the love we have shared for more than 60 years. She continued, “Thank you for your prayers and compassion.” In this challenging time, the family asks for privacy.

Dolly received numerous messages of support and condolences after learning the sad news about Carl’s passing. The singer thanked fans for all the messages, cards, and flowers you’ve sent in your thoughts regarding my husband’s passing, Carl. Although I can’t personally contact each of you, I am aware of how important it is to me. I’m happy that he’s now in God’s arms. I’ll be there for you forever.

When Dolly and Carl met outside a laundromat called Wishy Washy, Dolly fell in love with him the day she moved to Nashville. In a statement released to mark the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary in 2016, Carl stated, “My first thought was I’m going to marry that girl. Lord she’s good looking, I seconded it. My life began that day. I wouldn’t exchange this planet’s last 50 years for nothing.

Dolly previously described their wedding day as “my mother made me a little white dress and a little bouquet.” However, I said, “I can’t get married in a courthouse because I’ll never feel married.” So we went to Pastor Don Duvall’s house in town and asked, “Would you marry us?” Right outside the church, we were taken with the steps.
