Does ‘America First’ make the US weaker?

Americans supported the concepts of globalization, alliances, and “spreading democracy” in the US in the 1990s because it had no one else in charge of international affairs. However, according to Michael McFaul, the former US ambassador to Russia, many Americans prefer to distance themselves from the rest of the world and the West is losing its democratic spirit.
