So far, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of Doechii. The artist made her Grammy Awards debut just one month ago with a stellar performance, three nominations, and win, making her only the third woman to ever win Best Rap Album of the Year.
Doechii made headlines once more with the release of her rompy sitcom music video for “Denial Is A River” and the resurfaced videos of her rocky and real pursuit of music, both after two viral performances on NPR’s Tiny Desk and alongside Issa Rae for Genius Open Mic.
Although it’s difficult to say what fans will hear from the artist who seems to move a million miles per minute, she teased fans earlier this week about a potential collaboration.
Doechii gave the impression that something might be in the works between her and a female rap star from the UK. Doechii expressed her admiration for the UK rapper Little Simz in a recent on-air interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra. “I would love to collaborate with Little Simz…She is phenomenal!… Phenomenal”! Doechii exclaimed.
Doechii’s support for the North London rapper, whose introspective quality and greater musicality helped her to become well-known from a young age, won over UK fans.
Doechii was questioned by host Remi Burgz about the possibility of a collaboration between the two rap powerhouses: “Is this something you guys have already discussed?” Or is this just one of your manifestations”?
“We speak…I can’t say what we’ve spoken about but we speak”. Doechii exchanged snark before making a big comedic chuckle. However, the vague response elicited a high level of anticipation from the listeners. One fan took to X to share their excitement, writing: “The 2 best female rappers right now together? I’m so in”.
“This would be crazyyyy. Specifically rapping over a soul sample beat”, another put, while a third typed: “A Doechii/Little Simz collaboration? Yes, that’s exactly what I want”.

Both rappers have a distinct aesthetic and sound, but both have a reputation for pushing the boundaries of rap and hip-hop creativity with both their music videos and sounds.
Due to both artists performing at major festivals in London this summer, a collaboration seems perfect. Little Simz will be the youngest artist to curate London’s renowned Meltdown festival while Doechii will be playing at the All Points East festival in August along with RAYE and Tyla.
Meltdown is the country’s longest-running artist-curated music festival and will celebrate its 30th anniversary this summer. The festival line-up will be announced later this spring, so perhaps we’ll see Doechii on the list.
