Novak Djokovic is aware of how to conserve energy if he wants to become famous at the Australian Open.

The Serb legend is competing for a 25th Grand Slam title to break Margaret Court’s all-time singles record.

The 38-year-old, who injured himself in three of his four Slam semi-finals last year, has stated that he needs to protect his body for the final stages of the majors.

Djokovic’s Australian Open semi-final was halted early last year by a leg injury, while his hip injury at Wimbledon and his composure at the US Open also contributed.

The key to a successful first-round start is to spend as little time on the court, and Djokovic has done so.

In the second round, he defeated Italian qualifier Francesco Maestrelli 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 on a cool Melbourne afternoon to win the match.

Djokovic compared the world number 141 Maestrelli to the fact that “I didn’t know much about him until a few days ago,” Djokovic said.

“I didn’t underestimate him, and the respect is always there.” He only has a limited amount of experience, but he has a big serve and a big game.

He has the ability to advance to the top of the world rankings, which I wish him.

Djokovic’s 37-0 record against them is the best of any player in the Open era. He has never lost a Grand Slam match to a qualifier or a loser.

Djokovic managed to save four of his five break points while his serve was not quite as strong as it did in the first round. Despite this, he still managed to score 86% of his points in the second round.

His 400th Grand Slam singles victory would come against Botic van de Zandschulp on Saturday in the third round. No other player has succeeded in doing that.
