A new series of DIY SOS is about to be launched. It will see Nick Knowles and the team return, with viewers set to see them help bring communities together and transform people’s lives through various projects on the show.

The BBC show first aired in 1999 and later relaunched as DIY SOS: The Big Build in 2010. The most recent series was broadcast between May and June in 2022. Since then, a few special episodes of the show have been shown, like an EastEnders special that was broadcast in December 2023.

DIY SOS was first announced last year, and the BBC’s schedule now indicates that it will be back starting next month. On October 3, a new series, said to have four episodes, is currently scheduled to debut.

There will also be a new BBC Children In Need special of DIY SOS shown later this year. The special, made in collaboration with Morning Live, is due to air in November during the annual fundraising initiative’s appeal week.

The team reportedly travels to Leicester to assist Isla, who was born with a rare genetic condition, in the first episode of the new series of DIY SOS. According to the synopsis, she aspires to live more independently in her own home.

One of Nick and the entire organization’s “biggest logistical and emotional challenges” is ahead. It’s made fun of that they had to accommodate wheelchair users and a long list of bespoke adaptations for the project.

Last year, Nick confirmed that DIY SOS was coming back. In a post uploaded to Instagram in October, he shared a photo of himself and electrician Billy Byrne. Nick wrote: “@bbcdiysos is back! We’re looking for families from all over and especially keen to hear from people in Scotland and Northern Ireland. “

He has continued to keep fans informed of the show’s progress, and he announced the launch of a new series in March of this year. In his update, Nick shared a selfie with designer Gabrielle Blackman and other people.

Just to let you know that we are currently filming a brand-new series of @bbcdiysos all over the UK, Nick wrote in the caption. With the assistance of an army of kind trades, suppliers, and volunteers, we have already created some wonderful families in fantastic communities.

There are both new faces (especially mine), as well as old faces, and there is a significant rise in community spirit everywhere, he added. Keep an eye out for updates on the series’ release dates and when we’ll be in your area. However, I can tell you right away that it will be emotional and epic.

Fans expressed their excitement over the return of the show at the time. One person wrote, “Fantastic can’t wait, can’t wait.” Another person responded to Nick with, “Love this show. “I’ll look forward to watching,” a third person said. Another responded to the post with, “That’s great news, can’t wait.”
