A talent agency announced that Derek Martin’s son, the tragic son of EastEnders icon Derek Martin, passed away just days after losing his father tragically.

Derek Martin’s son has died just days after the death of the EastEnders legend. David Rapp, who, like his father, had started working in the entertainment industry, had been alongside his dad when he died earlier this month.

No cause of death has yet been disclosed for David. David had worked as a booker for the BBB, working with actors and huge organisations such as the BBC, Channel 4, Pixar and Sony.

Meanwhile, Derek’s family representative stated: “It is with great sadness that I can confirm that our beloved client, Derek Martin, passed away on January 10, 2026. Derek has been a true working-class voice in British television and film for more than 50 years.

“It was a privilege to be a part of his creative journey,” he said of La Plante Productions’ production of two series of The Governor and Law and Order for the BBC. He is best known for playing Charlie Slater on EastEnders, which he cherished doing for a long time. Derek will be greatly missed as a dedicated father, generous donor to the charitable Water Rats, avid golfer, and general good man.

Meanwhile, an EastEnders spokesman said: “We are deeply saddened to learn about Derek Martin’s passing. Derek’s portrayal of Charlie Slater instantly won him over the audience as the head of one of EastEnders’ most recognizable families.
