Deputy Senate President Backs Creation Of Karaduwa State

Senator Barau Jibrin, the vice president of Katsina State, made a pledge on Saturday to work with Senator Muntari Dan-Dutse, the senator representing the Funtua Senatorial District, to create a new state known as “Karaduwa.”

He said the creation of new states was appropriate because it would, in addition to promoting economic prosperity, lead to significant development for the state’s citizens.

“I will work with my brother, Senator Muntari Dan-Dutse, to make sure Karaduwa, a new state, is established in Katsina. The Karaduwa people are agitated, and they have everything necessary for a state. Despite the fact that it’s a little challenging, but it’s possible, he said, “I am supporting the agitation.”

Senator Muntari Dan-Dutse, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, TetFund, and Senator representing Katsina South Senatorial District, Katsina State, performed the official flag off of the distribution of Ramadan food items and empowerment of thousands of women and youth at the Funtua township.

The beneficiaries were asked to continue supporting the government with prayers especially during this holy period of Ramadan in his remarks by Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda.

Hon. His deputy represents him. The governor, Faruk Jobe, cited a number of achievements made by the state government so far in all fields, including education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and economy.

The governor stated that the government spent 120 billion naira on the education sector, which included funding for 109 underprivileged children and scholarships to study medicine, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology abroad.

Despite the economic situation and insecurity, Senator Muntari Dan-Dutse, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, and TetFund, the senator representing the Katsina South Senatorial District, said he was working toward improvement.

The lawmaker praised the Federal University of Medical and Health Science in Funtua, which is “in terms of infrastructural development.”

“We played a crucial role in making sure the school was facilitated. The project is currently being pursued by the governor of Katsina State who has already committed three million dollars. And it was not included in the 2024 budget, but we fought it, and it was also included in the 2025 budget. The governing council and vice chancellor were elected.

They are also working toward finding the people who will enable efficient schoolwork.

“And in the capital portion of this 2025 budget, we have about N5.7 billion that was allocated to the university, and we also have N5 billion for TETFund takeoff, and N2.9 billion for regular intervention, which was also appropriated.

Because Funtua is the hub for excellence connecting Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, Kano, and Jigawa, we are grateful that the university will act as a catalyst for the development of education in Katsina State as well as the Northwest and Nigeria in general.
