Ant and Dec revealed their anxiety, parenting, and long-running TV careers in their first podcast appearance.
Declan Donnelly has made his first public comments regarding his battle with silent health.
The TV personality admitted that he “can never sit down” and that he “should always be doing something.
Donnelly revealed that he had sought therapy about five or six years ago and found it to be incredibly beneficial. Anthony McPartlin, Fearne Cotton’s co-host, and him making the revelations during an appearance on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast.
The duo, famously known as Ant and Dec, rose to stardom in their teenage years. They discussed fatherhood and how they’ve grown to appreciate their enduring careers more as they’ve aged. I never feel like I can sit down and watch TV; instead, I feel like I should be doing something else. There is the skepticism that I should be performing a task somewhere.
I have a lot of trouble with that, trying to calm the voice in my head that says, “No, you should be using this time more productively.” About five, five, or six years ago, I had therapy. I really enjoyed it a lot. I really enjoyed it.
Donnelly shared that when he attempted to book a second session with the therapist, the therapist informed him that he couldn’t see him after taking a break from therapy.
He continued, “He did recommend someone else, and I have those details still; I haven’t managed to schedule an appointment yet.”
In his first podcast appearance, Donnelly emphasized that they take their roles “extremely seriously.”
The Geordie duo has fronted numerous primetime entertainment shows over the years, including Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent and Ant And Dec’s Limitless Win.
According to Donnelly, “We always look at how can we bring the entire family together” when we’re looking at projects.
It’s a challenge to try to engage the entire family, which is a no-brainer. You have to try to engage each and every generation. We take it very seriously despite the fact that it’s entertaining and enjoyable.
McPartlin chimed in: “We do the best job in the world. We have a laugh every day.m We’ve hosted some turkeys over the years. It hasn’t always been a success. t’s a privilege to be in someone’s living room on a Saturday night hosting a big show.”
McPartlin acknowledged that he now has to think about his 19-month-old son in terms of fatherhood.
He admitted that he frequently gets scolded for swearing in the house. Isla, his daughter, Isla, requests to watch I’m Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Donnelly revealed on the podcast. but he resents the watershed’s aftermath. He also mentioned Jack, the son of three years old, and said, “I’m not sure my kids should be watching my TV show.”
Additionally, the duo revealed that Hanging Out With Ant &, Dec, their own podcast series, will debut later this week.
According to Donnelly, “It’s really exciting,” revealing that they had actually recorded a pilot for a podcast in a pub “about 15 years ago,” but hadn’t taken it further.
After promoting the new podcast with a video that received criticism for its “suicide imagery,” which depicts feet dangling above the ground, the pair apologized last week.
In a statement to BBC News, they said: “We did not mean to cause any offence with this promo video and we are sorry if it upset anyone.”
