TV presenter Declan Donnelly has spoken out recently about his relationship with best friend Ant McPartlin, as well as his private life and his struggle for silence.

Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin have discussed the reasons behind their decision to create a podcast. Dec, 50, claimed that the pair don’t spend as much time together anymore as they did when Dec got around to organizing it.

This, he said, was down in large part to the fact that they’re both fathers to small children, and Ant, also 50, has moved further away.

He continued, “We’re now fathers to very young children, and they take up a lot of time, effort, and energy in particular. We don’t hang out as much as we once did, despite my deep love for them. Since the ancestor has relocated, our geographical separation has never been greater.

We decided to create a podcast to sit down and talk some trash together and let you join in too. “So we don’t get to hang out as much and talk rubbish anymore.

Dec has two children with his wife Ali Astall, daughter Isla and son Jack, with the former born in 2018 and the latter coming later in 2022. Ant has a baby son Wilder with his wife Anne-Marie Corbett, alongside co-parenting her two teenage daughters from a previous relationship.

Whilst this is the first podcast the presenting duo have hosted, they made their podcast debut when they appeared on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place earlier this week. The pair discussed their multi-decade careers with their fellow presenter.

During the interview, Declan admitted that he occasionally suffers from anxiety, the I’m A Celebrity host admitted: “I struggle a bit with, it’s kind of a low level, constant anxiety about ‘should be doing this’ or ‘I’ve got to be doing…

I never feel like I can sit down and watch TV; instead, I feel like I should be doing something else. There is the skepticism that I should be performing a task somewhere.

I have a lot of trouble with that, trying to calm down the voice in your head that says, “No, you should be using this time more productively.” About five, five, or six years ago, I had therapy. I really enjoyed it a lot. I really liked it.

Dec acknowledged, however, that he was still getting around it when he went back to therapy because he was told the therapist couldn’t see him and that it was harder for him.

He continued, “He did recommend someone else, and I have those details still; I haven’t managed to schedule an appointment yet.”

Declan acknowledged in the interview that the pair had conducted a pilot podcast “some 15 years ago” but hadn’t advanced despite his battles on screen.
