According to news agency Interfax, debris from a Russian passenger plane carrying about 50 people has been discovered in Russia’s far east.
The local emergencies ministry reported on Thursday that the An-24 plane, which was flown by an Siberia-based airline called Angara, slammed off radar as it approached Tynda, a town in the Amur region’s border with China.
There were 43 passengers, five of whom were children, and six crew members, according to preliminary information, according to regional governor Vasily Orlov.
He stated on Telegram that “all necessary forces and means have been deployed to search for the plane.”
Around 40 people were on board, according to the emergencies ministry, which is a lower number.
