After a difficult and eventful year for the couple, Davina McCall and husband Michael Douglas have been opening up about how they are feeling right now.

Presenter Davina McCall and her husband Michael Douglas have been speaking about their hopes for 2026 after the pair, who got married in December, suffered through several ordeals last year.

During the latest episode of their podcast ‘Making the Cut’, the duo discussed Davina’s health, with the star completing her radiotherapy for breast cancer earlier this month, before asking listeners if anyone else has felt a shift taking place since the beginning of the new year.

According to Davina, “everything has changed since the first of January… It was the supermoons…we got married and it was the supermoons.”

Celebrity hairdresser Michael, 49, who also felt there had been a change in the air since the new year, then candidly opened up on how the past year had been.

He expressed his emotions by saying, “I believe I had the most difficult year of my life last year.” It was very difficult, in my opinion. Really, it really broke me. By November, I would say I was done.

I simply said, “I don’t think I can recover from this.” And I can’t tell you how good I feel. It’s the best experience I’ve had in years. However, you have, and you are amazing, Davina, 58, replied.

Davina’s praise for her husband Michael comes as she herself has received a ton of support as a result of her breast cancer diagnosis, which came shortly after she had a benign brain tumor removed.

Earlier this month, the former Big Brother presenter told fans that she had completed radiotherapy treatment.

Taking to Instagram, she opened up about the ordeal. She said: “It’s a bit weird having a National Quitters Day, because you kind of want to say to somebody ‘oh happy National Quitters Day’ but no, we shouldn’t be celebrating that.

“There’s nothing happy about that. We should have a ‘happy, congratulations on still going for it when everyone else is giving up day’. That’s what we should say. And it is quite difficult at this time of year because all the buzz of Christmas and New Year has subsided and it’s just a grey stormy day.

Because I finished my radiotherapy today, I actually intend to go out and watch something. And it was extremely emotional.

Davina made the comments after her HELLO! appearance. Her first public appearance was the Inaugural Power List event, which she had just had her breasts removed.

She stated at this event, “I’m grateful for every minute, because I know it might go, and I’m okay with that. I love life, but I don’t want to die right now because I don’t want to.

The happiest person I’ve ever been is. I’m in such a nice location. And age is what has taught me that having experience doesn’t mean you can age without it.

Some people learn things quickly, while others don’t. It took me until I was in my fifties to develop the necessary skills to make me feel truly, deeply content.
