Love Island star Davide Sanclimenti has taken aim at his ex Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu as he gushed over his new girlfriend, and fans are not happy.
The 30-year-old shot to fame on the ITV2 dating show with Ekin-Su, also 30, and went on to win the show. They carried on their romance outside the villa yet had a rocky time that ultimately ended in heartbreak. Davide and Ekin-Su announced their break-up last year, with both of them now moving on.
Ekin-Su headed back to the Love Island villa for a second chance at love as she’s found a connection with Curtis Pritchard in the All Stars villa. While Ekin-Su’s budding romance has been playing out in front of the nation, Davide has also continued to debut his own new relationship.
He has found love with girlfriend Iris and the couple headed to Hawaii to mark their first Valentine’s Day together. Davide shared stunning photos from their resort as they celebrated the day of love together with a rose petal covered bed and swanky meal. He gushed over Iris, yet couldn’t help but make a dig at Ekin-Su in the caption.

In his post, Davide wrote: “Happy Valentine’s Day to the most romantic woman I’ve ever met. Since being with you, I learned what a “monthsary” is. You’re the most kind and genuine person. We were supposed to meet as friends, but from that first ‘friendly date,’ we’ve been inseparable. I loved that you didn’t know who I was. You love deeply because you’ve been through a lot, and that made me want to protect you.
“Thank you for believing in me, for bringing out my best, and for being someone who pushes me to grow.” In a subtle shade to his ex, Davide added: “True love is wonderful because it doesn’t destroy you. I know we met for a reason and I’m glad we’re healing each other. We don’t have to be together—we choose each other every day. To us.”
Fans picked up on the apparent swipes at his ex as one said: “That would have been so romantic if it hadn’t been for the digs at Ekin-Su. If I were his girl, I would be disappointed in that message.” Another added: “So many obvious ‘hidden’ messages.” Someone else commented: “It doesn’t seem sincere because you can see most of the effort went into sly digs at Ekin rather than your real feelings towards your current. lol.”
A fourth wrote: “Ok but appreciate her without throwing digs around..” One follower quipped: “She’s beautiful. And you can see you’re happy. But, you don’t have to say anything about your last relationship, because that disrespecting your girlfriend bringing your ex up, to her it’s like you’re comparing them, also leave Ekin alone, she’s your past & doesn’t need you s****ing her off, she’s doesn’t do it about you, so leave her alone & live your happy life.”
Iris also shared a gushing post as she commented: “I can’t believe I met someone who’s been through similar stages, situations, and traumas. Even though you’re misunderstood, I know you have the kindest heart. I love that even when world is against us and everything is going wrong, we always manage to stay silly, positive, and funny. Thank you for your loyalty, support, and most importantly for healing me. I’m thankful for you every day. I love my handsome Happy first Valentine’s!”
Cracks started to appear for Davide and Ekin-Su when he was filmed allegedly leaving a bash with two blonde ladies. Ekin-Su later claimed Davide cheated on her. She tried to move past the betrayal by focusing on her projects, which included taking part in Big Brother.
