Comedian David Walliams will be spending Christmas apart from his son following his divorce from Lara Stone a decade ago, which was followed by his struggles after leaving BGT
David Walliams will be spending Christmas apart from his 12-year-old son Alfred.
It comes after the star has retreated from the limelight in recent years, after being ‘cancelled’ over offensive comments made on Britain’s Got Talent, where he appeared as a judge.
The Little Britain comic was once the centre of the British entertainment industry and loved by audiences but after stepping down from Britain’s Got Talent his career has never been the same.
Even Simon Cowell has also reportedly distanced himself from David, with a source saying the once close duo do not speak ‘at all’ anymore.

As well as cutting back on his showbiz pals, David will also seemingly be having a lonely Christmas as he recently opened up about not spending the festive day with his son, who he shares with his ex-wife Lara Stone. The duo, who divorced a decade ago, co-parent their 12-year-old boy, Alfred, and this year it’s her turn to have him. David has reportedly remained single since their separation.
David opened up about his son while discussing his new children’s book Santa & Son. He said: “I don’t have him for Christmas. I was thinking a bit about sometimes the pain you feel as a parent when you don’t have your child at Christmas.”
Christmas is also an emotional time for David, who revealed how he went through a very sad time at Christmas back in 2008 when his father died. He added: “I remember my dad died some 17 years ago now but it was in November and I remember sort of dreading the first Christmas without him and it was just horrendous missing him.
“And so it’s one of these things, isn’t it? It’s a time where it’s almost like you’re forced to be happy, but it’s not always the happiest, especially if something has gone on like you’re grieving or something.”
Following his exit from Britain’s Got Talent, David found himself struggling and thought his had lost his talents to be ‘funny’ and also shared that he had suicidal thoughts.
David also found himself struggling when the show he co-created with Matt Lucas in 2003, Little Britain, was taken off air in 2022 as the BBC said ‘times have changed’ since the show first aired’.
While David will not be spending Christmas with his son, he said he was having an early Christmas by flying off to The Maldives with him as a treat.
He told The Mike Hosking Radio Breakfast Show: “I am taking my son away before Christmas to The Maldives. He’s really into scuba diving. So we’re gonna go diving together and I’m very excited.”
