More than 450 items tied to the US director were auctioned by Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), for a total of $ 4.25 million (£3.16 million).
A treasure trove of memorabilia belonging to the late legendary director David Lynch has raised a staggering £3 million at a glitzy Los Angeles auction.
The Peninsula Beverly Hills event, which Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies jointly managed, raised a cool $ 4.25 million (£3.16 million) in cash.
The director was best known for his artistic vision and the direction behind Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet. Lynch’s family confirmed the news on Facebook in January 2024, writing: “There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.'”

11 of his abandoned filmmaking company, Ronnie Rocket: The Absurd Mystery Of The Strange Forces of Existence, sold for an eye-watering $ 145, 000 (£145, 206), making up the top line.
Three scripts alone sold for $ 104, 000 (£77, 443), one of which expresses the urgent caution: “We are very concerned about preserving the integrity of this screenplay. This script is only for your use, so please don’t let anyone read it.
Winkie’s diner, a familiar location for Mulholland Drive fans, sold for $7,800 ($5, 808), while an original diptych featuring Laura Harring and Naomi Watts ($16,250 ($12, 100) sold for the same price.
A red leather director’s chair with the name Lynch on it was transported to LA’s hippest locations before being sold for a shocking $91, 000 (£67, 762), showcasing the filmmaker’s enduring allure.

Catherine Williamson, managing director of entertainment at Julien’s Auctions, remarked: “Every object in this collection served as a window into Lynch’s surreal and uncompromising creative world – whether from his ground-breaking films, television work, or personal studio.
The auction’s global response reflects both the cultural significance of his legacy and the profound admiration and reverence he inspires among his fans, collaborators, and collectors alike.
Northwest Passage, the TV series pilot episode produced by Lynch and Mark Frost, was originally titled Northwest Passage before being changed to Twin Peaks, for an incredible $ 97, 000 (£67, 762), while the prequel film Fire Walk With Me, its script, raked in $78, 000 (£58, 082).
Eraserhead, Lynch’s debut feature film, was purchased for an impressive $ 52, 000 (£38, 721) for a personal 35mm print.
Following a five-month emphysema diagnosis that he attributed to “many years of smoking,” the renowned US director passed away earlier this year at the age of 78.
