After his eldest son Brooklyn released a damning statement about his family on Monday, David Beckham is the subject of an unprecedented family feud.
David Beckham has been the subject of a scathing statement from his son, Brooklyn, who accused his father of controlling him, among other things. But the Manchester United icon’s own Father’s Day message from last summer says a lot.
Since his 2022 marriage to actress Nicola Peltz, the Beckham family’s eldest, Brooklyn, seemingly kept his distance from parents Victoria and David amid suggestions that a familial rift had formed. Their attendance or lack thereof at Victoria’s 50th birthday and then David’s caused quite the stir.
This week, Brooklyn broke his silence in a mic-dropping fashion, releasing a six-page statement on social media filled with allegations. He claims his mother “hijacked” his and Peltz’s wedding and that his parents have long been controlling his life.
Brooklyn stated in his statement that he does not want to reconcile with his family, including his father, but the former England star made a completely different statement just last year.

In June 2025, Beckham took to Instagram with a picture of his four children on Father’s Day and accompanied it with a heartfelt caption, which acted as a message to his kids.

Being a father is “my most important and favorite job in life,” he wrote. “I’m so proud of all of you, and I’m going to be here for you no matter what,” your father (sorry boys) promises you every day.
Brooklyn appears to have a slightly different perspective on things. The 26-year-old claimed Victoria and David have been having an argument over naming rights, and that he has since disclosed in his statement details.
My parents have tried incessantly to break us up since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped, Brooklyn wrote. Prior to our wedding, my parents repeatedly tried to pressure me into reneging on the rights to my name, which would have affected my wife and our future children.
They resisted if I agreed to do so before my wedding date, fearing that the terms of the agreement would be drawn up. The payday was affected by my holdout, and they haven’t treated me similarly since.
Brooklyn also alleges that David refused to see him unless his wife Nicola was excluded during his father’s celebrations for his 50th birthday in the summer of 2025.
Our parents waited in our hotel room for a week while we tried to plan quality time with my dad, according to David’s eldest.
“He refused all of our attempts,” he said, “until his big birthday party, where there were cameras around every corner and hundred people there.” When Nicola wasn’t invited, he finally agreed to see me. A slap in the face was used.
Prior to everything else, my family values public recognition and endorsements. First is Brandy Beckham. Family “love” is determined by how much you share on social media or how quickly you post, even if it comes at the expense of our professional obligations.
