Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer said on an episode of his podcast with Dani Dyer that he has a weapon at home and added that he gave a similar one to Jarrod Bowen once

Actor Danny Dyer has risked potentially receiving a Spring visit from local police after claiming that he has a weapon at home. He has also shared that he gave a similar one to his daughter Dani Dyer’s fiancé Jarrod Bowen as a gift once.

Danny, 47, made the claims on the latest episode of the Live and Let Dyers podcast, which he co-hosts with Dani, 28. In the episode, which was released on Wednesday, the former EastEnders cast member said he has a “pure metal” cosh at home and that he had gifted a “spring cosh” to Jarrod, 28.

Whilst speaking about going on a trip to Dubai, Danny said on the podcast: “Shout-out to all you burglars out there because by the time this airs I’ll be back. And I’ve got a naughty dog called Debbie. And I’m belled up to f***.”

He continued by warning anyone against targeting his house. The actor teased during the discussion that he would be waiting for them with a “spring cosh”.

Danny said: “So anyway don’t try and sniff round my gaff when this is out because I’ll be waiting for you with a spring cosh – which is my favourite weapon of choice when I’m in [my home]. ” Dani appeared to say: “You give that to Jarrod. “

Her father Danny added: “No, I’ve got another one. ” He went on to tell listeners: “I did give one to Jarrod – a spring cosh. It was one of my early presents to him because he’s very protective of you. So he’s got the one with the spring on it. “

The Rivals star continued on the recently released episode of the podcast: “Actually, my one’s pure metal. It’s almost like a police baton. ” Danny added: “Anyway, it’s a good tool. “

Moments earlier, Dani said at one point: “He has it next to him.” It’s unclear whether she was talking about her father or West Ham United footballer Jarrod.

The Sun reports that Danny could end up in trouble with the law. According to the outlet, possessing an extendable baton was outlawed by the Offensive Weapons Act 2019.

Whilst in its definition of a baton, the CPS states: “A straight, side-handled or friction-lock truncheon (sometimes known as a baton). This is a prohibited offensive weapon set out in the Criminal Justice Act (Offensive Weapons) Order 1988. “

It is however unclear if the weapons Danny and Jarrod are said to have fit either of the above descriptions.

A lawyer told the Sun: “This is not a wise thing to admit so freely. If someone’s first act when an intruder broke in was to attack them with a cosh, and not ask them to leave, the prosecution would be within their rights to say it was not a reasonable response. “
