Damian Hurley has hit back at speculation about a rift with his actress mum Elizabeth after claims their relationship had turned sour following her Billy Ray Cyrus romance
Damian Hurley has hit back at rumours of a rift with his mother, actress Elizabeth Hurley, following reports of tension over her romance with Billy Ray Cyrus.
Speculation has swirled in recent months over a supposed rift between the 25-year-old and his mum, 60, after she went pubic with her new relationship with the country singer, 64, earlier this year. Sources claim Damian was unhappy about the singer’s presence in his mother’s life and he has since moved out of his mother’s home, according to a report.
However, Damian has now moved to put the rumours to rest. Taking to Instagram this week, he said: “I’ve been in the public eye since the day I was born and rarely comment on anything written about me or my family but recent stories are so startlingly untrue that I want to offer a little clarity.”
He went on: “For the record: I adore @billyraycyrus and think he’s one of the sweetest men I’ve ever met. I love seeing my mom so happy. Billy’s kids are also adorable and everyone gets along beautifully, any claims to the contrary are yawn-inducing and tediously untrue”.
Damian added: “I have a very modern family – from my cherished father Arun to my wonderful stepsiblings @brookewarne, @summerwarne, @jacksonwarne18 – and I feel blessed every day to be surrounded by so much love and support. I’m grateful for the truth we live despite the stories others write for us”.
Damian Hurley is the son of Elizabeth Hurley and American businessman Steve Bing, though he considers her ex-husband, Arun Nayar, to be his father, a source claims.
A close family source confirmed to the Daily Mail that while Steve Bing was his biological dad, it was Arun who provided the steady fatherly presence in Damian’s life, guiding and supporting him as he grew up.
They also revealed that some distance has developed between mother and son in recent months. Damian moved into his own flat in Earl’s Court, West London, earlier this year, shortly after Hurley, began her relationship with Billy Ray Cyrus.
Elizabeth has been spending significant time with the American singer, including trips to his ranch in Tennessee, and sources say she is very much in the “honeymoon phase”, enjoying the early excitement of her relationship.
They said: “And perhaps Damian would sooner see her alone. She and Damian are still best friends but I hear that they are no longer joined at the hip socially. They now go out without each other, and Damian is starting to carve his own path. I’ve even heard that they have butted heads on occasion”.
Elizabeth and Billy debuted their relationship on easter Day, sharing a loving poster back in April. They showed off their romance with a PDA pic they posted to both of their Instagram accounts.
