Crystal Palace Beat Dynamo Kyiv In Conference League Opener

With a 2-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv on Thursday in the UEFA Conference League, Crystal Palace made their first full UEFA appearance.

Due to the conflict in Ukraine, Colombian wing-back Daniel Munoz’s brilliant towering header in the first half gave Palace a 2-0 lead in Lublin, where Dynamo are playing their home games in Europe this season.

As Palace set a new club record with 19 games unbeaten, Eddie Nketiah grabbed a second just before the hour when they scored from the excellent Yeremy Pino.

However, Borna Sosa quickly conceded two yellow cards as she reached Palace’s final fifteen.

After defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final last year, Palace made it to Europe, but they were demoted from the Europa League to the Conference League because they broke UEFA regulations for multi-club ownership.

The Premier League team’s only prior experience in continental competition was a 1998 home-and-away tie in the Intertoto Cup.

In their next game of the league, Palace are expected to face AEK Larnaca of Cyprus on October 23. They are also expected to win the Conference League.

The Eagles will also face Finnish side KuPS, Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, French side Strasbourg, and Irish side Shelbourne.
