His 30-year-old girlfriend Jackie Apostel praised her and wrote, “Play the album play the album, play the albummmmmmm,” in response to his fans. Others claimed they were prepared to witness Cruz play in person.

Jackie, a Brazilian-German songwriter, reportedly assisted Cruz in his songwriting, despite the controversy surrounding his most recent debut double single EP, Optics / Lick The Toad. The lyrics, which are supposed to set the tone for Becks’ upcoming album, may have left Mum and Dad red-faced due to the explicit content of the tracks.

In addition to his relationship with girlfriend and collaborator Jackie, his relationship with drugs and sex is rife with in his October film Optics. Cruz sings the lyrics to “Take a thousand selfies in your bed while I trip in mine/I love me some mushrooms, good head, and an erotic 69” in one track.
