Creighton wins British rally title for first time

British Rally Championship

William Creighton, a native of Northern Ireland, has for the first time won the British Rally Championship.

At the Cambrian Rally, Creighton and Liam Regan comfortably claimed the lead spot.

The 27-year-old Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy driver had to finish in the top eight places to claim the title, so he duly did with a safe drive in his Toyota GR Yaris.

In contrast, Creighton’s emotions were so drastically different in the final round of the season compared to the same twelve months ago, when he clung to Chris Ingram for the title.

The BRC title follows victories at the Junior World and British Rally Championships, making Creighton’s most recent success.

After finishing in second place at the Carlisle Stages, Creighton and Regan stormed to victory on the Grampian Forest Rally to take control of the title battle. They won the first round of the season with a dominant victory on the East Riding Stages.

The team placed third overall in the BRC at Rali Ceredigion in September, which was held as part of the European Rally Championship.

With his most recent success, Creighton joins Colin McRae, the legendary rally driver, and Elfyn Evans, the current leader in the World Rally Championship.

Max McRae, the late McRae’s nephew, won the rally. Romet Jurgensen and Meirion Evans, both of whom needed to win the title, came in second and third in Wales.
