The husband of late gospel singer, Osinachi, Peter Nwachukwu, was hanged by Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme of the Federal Capital Territory’s Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.
On April 8, 2022, Justice Nwosu-Iheme found him guilty of culpable homicide that led to the victim’s death.
After the court determined that the prosecution had met the burden of proof set forth by the law, the judge sentenced Nwachukwu to death while sentencing him to death. The judge then found the defendant guilty.

On behalf of the Federal Government, the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (OAGF) arraigned Nwachukwu on a 23-count charge that bordered on culpable homicide, punishable by death, criminal intimidation, cruelty to children, child intimidation, spousal battery, among others.
The prosecution called 17 witnesses during the trial, including two of the late Osinachi’s children, who testified as PW4 and PW5, respectively, while presenting 25 documents as exhibits to the court.

The defendant gave four witness statements to the defense, called four others, and presented four exhibits for his defense.
The defendant’s attorney, Reginald Nwali, pleaded with the court to be lenient in its decision shortly before the sentencing, while Mrs. Aderonke Imala, the prosecuting attorney, pleaded with the court to enforce the law as required.
Nwachukwu was then hanged by Justice Nwosu-Iheme for two years on counts 2, 3, 8, 9, 12, and 18 before receiving a two-year prison sentence.
The defendant was fined N500, 000 and N200, 000, respectively, on counts 6 and 7, respectively, while the court sentenced him to six months in prison on count 10, three years of imprisonment on count 11, and three years of fine.
