Georgia May Foote, a Coronation Street legend, shared an update and revealed her worries about how to dress down for the holidays and acknowledged that the progression of her vitiligo “breaks her heart.”
Georgia May Foote has bravely described her struggles coping with an incurable skin disease. The former Coronation Street star is living with vitiligo, and shared photos of the disorder on Instagram while admitting she was having a tough time handling the illness.
According to the NHS, vitiligo is a “long-term condition where pale white patches develop on the skin,” and is caused by an autoimmune disorder.
Georgia, 34, stated that she first experienced the condition in 2020, but it has since grown worse and has even now reached her face.
In her first Stories post, the Strictly Come Dancing star captured a selfie as she sat in her car, and wrote: “My heart goes out to anyone who has this condition. Mine was brought on in 2020 [upside down face] I wonder why!
I merely wanted to demonstrate its reality. I get so angry because of how hard some days are. I’ll always make an effort to prove to those who have the condition that it’s okay. It occasionally makes me feel bad.
She added: “We have got this. I pray one day we get the cream passed for use in this country. When I go on holiday in a few weeks I beg to please be kind with comments. I know you will be able to see a lot and it’s going to be hard to deal with.”
Next, Georgia, who now has her own nail salon in Manchester, posted a photo of her left hand, sporting a flawless manicure and a glitzy ring from husband Kris Evans – alongside several white patches contrasting with her olive skin.
She remarked, “This has spread so much since only a few months ago.” I’ve always anticipated vacations, but this one is the real first time ever.
Instead of gaining the self-assurance that comes from a tan, I’m afraid that I’ll start getting people to stare at me. Additionally, some patches become invisible until the rest of you become more sombre.
Georgia’s final post on the subject reads, “This picture makes me a little sad. I had a terrible tan. I’ve always admired how well-tan I received. Fast forward five years and I’ve been living with vitiligo, which causes me to develop white patches that get worse day by day.
“Today is difficult. It’s now appearing on my face. I’m heartbroken to know that it’s only going to get worse. I’m okay with it on some days. I’m not today, like today. The hardest thing I have ever had to deal with is [sad emoji] my face. I’m so afraid of it.
Georgia has described some unkind reactions to her vitiligo before, tragically sharing: “I’ve noticed people staring, having a good old nosey with their faces screwed up, and that’s when my heart drops.”
