Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan on the ITV soap, admits to having depression and anxiety, and how she found a way to relax off the screen with the help of her boyfriend.

After filming some harrowing scenes on Coronation Street, Tanisha Gorey has found the perfect way to relax – chilling on the sofa with a Disney movie.

“It’s been weeks and weeks of 12-hour days, being sad and depressed and crying,” Tanisha says. “Sometimes it gets in your head and I really noticed that I was bringing it home with me.

There wasn’t a turn-off or escape from it because I was learning the rules for the following day. My boyfriend pulls me out of it because it is heavy. He will say, “Let’s watch something a little light-hearted tonight.”

Because I’m a Disney channel girl, I had to watch both Hannah Montana: The Movie and High School Musical to show my support. Anything that makes me smile and distracts from my daily life.

Lucas Whelan, 23, claims Tanisha, 23, is even content to watch the movies with her. He is fantastic, “smiles” He is the most ideal person I have ever met because he is very generous and supportive. My tea is prepared when I arrive home at 8 o’clock, the house is clean, and the washing is finished. He is incredibly helpful.

Lucas struggles with finances, but gives it his best chance when Tanisha struggles with her lines. She claims that he will play Dev, Bernie, Nina, and Summer as the other characters. He’s not an actor, so it’s hilarious because his job is completely opposite of what I do, but I think he really enjoys it!

As she tries to deal with the stresses of her job as a paramedic, viewers have witnessed Asha struggle with her mental health. During a traumatic shift, a woman named Naomi abused her in a special one-off episode last month.

It quickly becomes clear how severely Asha is affected if she repeatedly bumps into Naomi, which brings back terrible memories of the incident. She storms out before telling her father she’s going to quit when she discovers that she has lied about going back to work.

She later changes her mind, but when she returns, it’s obvious that she feels unworthy and that everything revolves around her helping her father Dev in his corner store.

She drinks wine behind the counter and is at peace with the choice to end her life, Tanisha says. People frequently claim that suicide victims’ heads were at their best when they took their own lives because their heads are no longer torn.

She leaves the store and scurries down the street in tears, but she is found and called for help. She tells Dev that everything in the hospital became too much, and that she planned to end her life by taking the pills and alcohol.

She says to him, “I’m glad it didn’t work.” However, she isn’t in the clear, and when she does, we discover that she is still depressed. To demonstrate that it’s not always a quick fix, is important, in my opinion. It demonstrates that it’s acceptable to ask for assistance once more for those who are struggling.

Tanisha says she is glad Coronation Street is exposing just how damaging racial abuse can be, having experienced it herself from a young age. Growing up in Oldham, Gtr Mancheser with white parents who ran a local pub, she says she attracted attention.

She recalls that my parents are white, my mother is white, my step-dad is white, and my grandparents are all white. I was raised with casual racism because my race was predominately white. There were always questions posed to my family as they grew up, and “where has she come from, because she’s not white?” Although I’ve dealt with it, it can occasionally outweigh other people’s.

Tanisha’s 17th year on the cobbles began when she was just six. She auditioned successfully when Coronation Street needed child actors to play Asha and Aadi’s twins, having initially been a baby model. Corrie smiles, and here I am, 17 years later, without even knowing what she was.

Tanisha has appeared in a number of ground-breaking stories, most notably Asha’s 2019 struggle with body image when she used dangerous skin-lightening cream. She reflects, which is my favorite story. People still talk to me about it, and that’s what I got.

Adam Hussein, who played Asha’s twin brother Aadi, recently left the show, but Tanisha won’t be following him anytime soon. “Adam wanted to see the world and do other things, but for me my brain has to finish something before starting something new,” she says.

I’m not prepared to depart, I say. I’ve never been through the motions like Gail Platt, who married a serial killer and was thrown into the canal. I have more things to do!
