Corrie’s Sally Metcalfe star has been flooded with well-wishes from her co-stars after hitting milestone
Coronation Street favourite Sally Dynevor has marked a significant career achievement.
The 62-year-old actress first arrived on the cobbles as Sally Seddon at just 22 years old and has since become a firm favourite amongst the ITV soap’s loyal viewers.
Her character has been central to countless memorable storylines, from her rocky marriage to Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) to a disturbing domestic abuse narrative involving her partner Greg Kelly (Stephen Billington).
In 2009, Sally captivated audiences as she fought breast cancer both in real life and on screen – an experience she believes may have saved her life.
Taking to Instagram on Monday (January 12), Sally revealed she’s set to commemorate four decades since her debut on Coronation Street, leaving her colleagues stunned, reports the Daily Star.
To celebrate this remarkable achievement, Sally posted a 40th anniversary card gifted to her by co-star Tony Maudsley, who portrays George Shuttleworth in the show.
The card’s front features Sally’s iconic first scene, showing her character being drenched by Kevin’s car as it splashes through a puddle, which was broadcast on January 27, 1986.
Sally beamed in her caption: “I can’t believe it’s 40 years in Corrie this month. What a ride it has been. Love what I do so much. Thank you @tonymaudsley1 for this, it’s wonderful.”
The post was met with a flurry of congratulatory messages from her co-stars. Sally’s on-screen husband, Joe Duttine, who portrays Tim Metcalfe, wrote: “Oh wow, that’s amazing…love you Sal xx.”
Tony Maudsley responded: “You are very welcome Sal. Happy Corriversary, you massive legend”, while Lauren Bolton star Cait Fitton chimed in: “You’re bloody amazing! ! ! ! Congrats you iconic queen.”
Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald, exclaimed: “Happy anniversary, lovely Sally”, and Emmerdale actress Michelle Hardwick added: “Remember that scene! Amazing Sally.”
Sally Carmen, who portrays Abi Webster in Corrie, quipped: “How is this possible? You’re only 36”, while her former co-star Brooke Vincent, who played Sophie Webster, simply said: “Congratulations Sal.”

In a previous chat with Woman’s Weekly magazine, the soap veteran reassured fans she has no plans to leave, expressing her desire to remain on Corrie well into her 80s.
“I want to keep working, it’s good for my brain,” she shared. “So, if they still want me, maybe I’ll be in the show in my 70s and 80s. I’ll just keep going.”
Sally concluded: “It’s such a great job and I feel very grateful I’ve still got it after 40 years.”
