Coronation Street enthusiasts may be taken aback to learn that actress Katy Cavanagh, known for her role as Julie Carp, is the mother of two rather well-known actors. The 52-year-old actress was a familiar face on the cobbles as Julie from 2008 to 2015 and made a comeback to the ITV soap last year for Eileen Grimshaw’s exit storyline, portrayed by Sue Cleaver.
In an emotional plot twist, Katy’s character Julie was written out after disclosing her cancer diagnosis. Aside from Coronation Street, Katy has also been acknowledged for her roles in The Cops, The Bill, Bob and Rose, and Murder on the Blackpool Express.
However, Katy isn’t the only one in her family with star quality. She is the she’s the proud mum of two Hollywood actor sons who recently starred in the film Hamnet, alongside Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal and Joe Alwyn.

Katy and her producer husband Chris Jupe are parents to three children, including actor sons Noah, 20, and Jacobi, 12. Noah and Jacobi have just appeared in Hamnet.
In the production, Jacobi played the part of Hamnet Shakespeare, son of William and Agnes and twin to Judith. Noah, meanwhile, took on the role of Hamlet.
Prior to Hamnet, Jacobi had roles in the 2023 Disney film Peter Pan and Wendy, playing Michael Darling, as well as TV shows Britannia, Tom Jones and Before. Meanwhile, his elder sibling Noah has racked up an impressive acting CV.
He featured in the thriller A Quiet Place and its follow-up A Quiet Place Part II with Emily Blunt, John Krasinski and Cillian Murphy, playing Marcus Abbott, the character son of Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Lee (John Krasinski), according to the Daily Star.
His portfolio also encompasses the role of Henry Fraser in The Undoing, working alongside Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, plus Suburbicon, which featured Matt Damon and Julianne Moore.
Noah has also gained recognition for The Night Manager, in which he took on the part of Daniel Roper, and the movie Ford v Ferrari.
Speaking with Variety, Noah previously discussed his family’s entertainment industry background: “My mum was an actress for a while, my dad was a producer, been an AD, been on a film set his whole life, so we’re a very film family. We’re very savvy in terms of the industry.”
He went on to explain how having well-informed parents proved invaluable when he started out as a young performer: “It was very helpful with me working as a kid because my parents would be on set and they know what they were doing, and they’d know about all the different intricacies of being on set.”
At the weekend, Katy proudly posed with her sons at the 2026 BAFTA Tea Party in Beverly Hills. The prestigious event was held at the luxe Four Seasons Hotel.
It is used as a celebration of the year’s cinematic triumphs. And it comest ahead of the iconic BAFTA Film Awards, which has a strong record of predicting who will be an Oscars success.
