Olivia Frances Brown made her Coronation Street debut recently and her real-life famous partner couldn’t be prouder
Coronation Street’s newcomer Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie, has been supported by her famous partner.
Actress Olivia first appeared on our screens as part of the jam-packed Corriedale crossover episode last week. At the time, her character’s identity was not known, and she was seen escaping after being held captive in the back of a van by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster.
After being rescued by police and rushed to hospital, Jodie has since made it to Weatherfield where she promptly revealed herself as the long-lost sister of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) – leaving both Shona and David (Jack P Shepherd) in shock.
However, things took a worrying turn this week when Jodie was seen ignoring several calls and eventually had a panic attack. David witnessed the worrying moment and after realising she had nowhere to go, invited Jodie to stay with him and Shona at number eight on the street.
The character of Jodie is being portrayed by Liverpool-born actress and singer-songwriter Olivia, who is based in Manchester. She has previously starred in Channel 4 series, The Gathering, as well as Archie and Boiling Point.
Olivia boasts an impressive following of 18K on Instagram, where her bio charmingly states: “probably singing jazz standards somewhere.” What’s more, it turns out that she has a rather famous fiancé too.
The soap star is engaged to This City Is Ours star James Nelson-Joyce. The couple, who have been together for several years, announced their engagement in a joint post in 2023.
James Nelson-Joyce is best recognised for his role as Michael Kavanagh in This City Is Ours. His other acting credits include Mount Pleasant, Little Boy Blue, The Nest, Time, The Outlaws, Industry, The Gold and A Town Called Malice.
And recently, James sent a sweet message to Olivia following her Coronation Street debut. On Tuesday (January 13), he re-shared a post about Olivia’s character on Corrie and tagged her alongside a string of love heart emojis.

Meanwhile, talking about Jodie on Coronation Street producer, Kate Brooks recently revealed they felt it was the time to “explore and unpack a bit of Shona’s backstory, and that’s where Jodie comes into the picture”.
She continued: “She’s a complicated character and she comes with a lot of baggage, shall we say, and their relationship as sisters is quite fraught. You know, they’ve got a lot history between them, there’s some kind of deep-seated resentment there as well, but they love each other.”
