Former Coronation Street actress Bhavna Limbachia has opened up about a tough period in her life, a year after tying the knot with her husband for the second time.
The soap star further celebrated her 2018 nuptials with a Tamil wedding blessing in February 2024, almost six years after marrying Darren Kuppan.
Taking to her Instagram Stories today, Bhavna – who’s best known for her role as the late Rana Habeeb on the ITV soap opera – shared she has experienced “huge losses” over recent months and is “stepping away” from things that no longer serve her mentally.

The Citizen Khan actress shared a photo of herself, saying, “These have been some of the hardest of my life.” I’ve had to rebuild after experiencing significant loss in many areas thanks to family and professionals.
I’m still healing from wounds that should never have been bears, and I’m making the decision to cut things out for my own well-being or peace. Always select kindness.
Before her character’s demise in March 2019, Preston-born Bhavna first appeared on the cobbled streets of Weatherfield in 2016 as Zeedan Nazir’s romantic partner Rana.
Before leaving the ITV soap, Bhavna received praise from the LGBT+ community for her sensitive portrayal of Rana’s romantic relationship with Kate Connor, played by Faye Brookes, and her portrayal of the street’s first Muslim lesbian character.
Bhavna has previously stated that Corrie was her choice, and she has explained why she believes death is the only appropriate conclusion for the storyline of her character.
Kate and Rana had worked so hard to be friends, and they have endured a lot of tribulation, Bhavna claimed. There was no way for Rana to just change her mind, take a cab, and leave because their love was so pure as two souls.
They must be torn apart, in my opinion, and that’s where they should be right away. If Rana passed away, there was only one way to go. Rana would never, ever leave Kate.
The Citizen Khan star later featured in Sky comedy Brassic’s fourth series, alongside former Corrie colleague Michelle Keegan, and had roles in BBC’s Inside No 9 and Ridley.
Following their July 2018 wedding at Thornton Manor, which featured both British and Indian customs, Bhavna is happily married to actor Darren Kuppan.
Darren previously had a brief appearance on Corrie as a paramedic years before Bhavna became part of the ITV drama’s cast. He’s also featured in Emmerdale episodes, Britannia High, and Johnny Vegas’s comedy series Home from Home.
Bhavna celebrated their engagement on Instagram by posting two stunning wedding photos to her followers.
