After sharing significant career news online, Coronation Street fans are concerned that a dear friend might be headed for a cobbles exit.
A Coronation Street favourite has issued a huge career update – but fans reckon it could mean they are set for a cobbles exit.
Summer Spellman made her debut on the ITV soap back in 2017, played by Matilda Freeman. And as the adopted daughter of Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), Summer has been involved in several big moments.
Now portrayed by Harriet Bibby, the character has been left heartbroken in recent weeks following the tragic death of Billy.
The vicar was killed off during the multi-vehicle crash in the Corriedale episode, which was believed to have been caused by Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) when in reality it was because of Carl (Jonathan Howard).
A devastated Summer has been facing serious difficulties since her father’s passing. She even slapped Debbie across the face this week after claiming she had killed Billy.
But away from the soap, actress Harriet recently shared some huge career news with her fans. Taking to her Instagram on Friday (January 16) Harriet revealed she is starring in an award-winning play, My Name Is Rachel Corrie.
The play, which is being co-produced by Take Back Theatre and 53Two, entirely based on a young American peace activist’s diaries and emails. We’ve been working on a beautiful project, Harriet said! @53two @reddoormanagement @takebacktheatre @ijkershaw @. “Ticket link in bio”
And it didn’t take her Corrie co-stars to show their support in the comments section. Toyah Habeeb star Georgia Taylor replied: “So excited for this my darling.” Jane Hazlegrove – who plays Bernie Winger – penned: “Now then… this will be fabulous…”

However, following the news of Harriet’s new job, fans can’t help but think she could be set for a Corrie exit. Reacting to a post about her career news on Facebook, one person said: “Is she leaving Corrie?”
Another remarked, “I will miss her, glad she’s not leaving.” She has a good personality. Wishing you the best of luck in the future. Don’t want to see her leave, wrote another person! Love the summer.
