Following her proposal on a train, Coronation Street star Maureen Lipman is getting ready to say “I do” to her husband number two.
Coronation Street star Maureen Lipman is ready to walk down the aisle for the second time at the age of 79. The actress is to exchange vows with fiance David Turner, also 79, after proposing to him on a train.
Maureen, who plays Evelyn Plummer on the Corrie cobbles, will embark on her second marriage. Her first husband was former Coronation Street writer Jack Rosenthal.
Before his passing, the pair had a 30-year marriage and tied the knot in 1974. She has lived largely unfiltered on the outside, but she did speak out about Jack’s passing in 2004 at the age of 72.

Multiple myeloma, a type of cancer, was Jack’s death. She stated to The People, “I have had my losses, of course, and I have had a wonderful life.” My husband passed away from myeloma at a far too young age.
She continued, “The Queen gets through work because I lost my partner in January.” If I’m not working, I’m not sure what to do, or what to do with my absence.
After Jack’s passing, Maureen found love once more. She then began dating retired computer expert Guido Castra. Sadly, Guido died in 2021.
She claimed that he had the coronavirus, which “weakened him terribly.” According to reports, he had previously been diagnosed with a form of Parkinson’s disease and had been staying in a respite facility.
Later, Maureen continued to say that she had no idea when Guido contracted the virus and that, for the first time in his life, he actually carried out what I had told him. “My heart is cracking,” Maureen continued.
She opens a new chapter in her life right away. She announced their engagement for the first time last year. When the Queen’s son, Tom Parker-Bowles, arrived home from the launch of his latest cooking book, Maureen claimed in an op-ed that it was a spur-of-the-moment decision.
She stated, “My partner and I decided later that night to let our children know that we will get married with a combined 156.”
She continued, “against the M word,” but realized that it was Tu B’Av, a Jewish holiday where a woman can ask a man to marry her.
The actress continued, “Unable to resist the gag, I slid under the table separating us onto one knee and asked him for his hand.” He gave it, to my surprise and my initial shock.
On September 8, the birthday of her first love and husband, the late Jack, David and Maureen revealed the news to her children.
