After leaving Coronation Street emotionally a year ago, a Coronation Street icon is set to make a comeback to the well-known ITV cobbles this holiday season.
Coronation Street fans are set for the dramatic return of a legend of the cobbles this Christmas. And it will mark exactly a year since they initially left.
Gail Chadwick, a former top dog, will make a comeback in the holiday special. The star, who was portrayed by Helen Worth, wed Jesse Chadwick and moved to France for a year.
Fans of the ITV show were devastated by her exit after a long-running stint on the soap, spanning back to 1974. And now, she is set for a one-off appearance, which is sure to delight the show’s avid viewers.

Details are still being kept hidden in producers’ hands. However, a TV insider claims she may soon be reconnected with her family for the holiday season.
The source told The Sun: “It could be more timely as the Platts find themselves in yet another drama, one that they’ve had to deal with by themselves since the Platts’ matriarch moved abroad.”
The move is certain to pique the interest of soap fans who wondered if Gail on the cobbles would ever return.
After an astonishing 50 years, Helen, 73, abruptly retired from the soap role of Gail. She described her participation in “the most wonderful show in the world” to the audience.
The actress has participated in a number of heartfelt and juicy storylines since making her Corrie debut fifty years ago. Her biggest plots have involved murders, steamy relationships, and the ongoing drama involving her three children, Nick (Ben Price), Sarah (David), and Nick.
Helen thanked her fans and long-time supporters on social media when she ultimately left her role. There will be more Platt stories, she said at the time, and I hope you’ll watch.
After celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world, she said in a statement announcing her exit.

Fans will be able to watch Todd Grimshaw’s dark scenes the week before Christmas. His partner Theo Silverton is also taking legal action against him again.
A character outside of the relationship develops suspicion during the scenes, which results in a conflict. Later, Todd accuses Theo of forcing him to run a half marathon.
Theo claims to him that it is for their own good and that they will do it again as part of their training.
