One year after quitting her role as Gail Platt in the ITV soap after 50 years, Helen Worth was captured on camera giggling from ear to ear at Jack P Shepherd’s wedding.

Helen Worth looked incredible as she was spotted for the first time following her sad Coronation Street exit. She has been Jack P Shepherd’s soap mum for 25 years, so it goes without saying that Helen would be in attendance of his wedding.

Helen had first appeared on the ITV soap in 1974 but decided to hang up her acting boots last year. The beloved actress attended Jack’s wedding with her husband Trevor Dawson wearing a patterned blue dress.

A pair of black heels and a matching clutch bag completed the look. She also sportified her signature shoulder-length bob haircut.

Jack, who was 12 years old when Jack was 12 years old, has played the role of David for 25 years.

Last June, Corrie bosses released a statement over Helen’s decision to quit the soap. She explained: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.”

She continued, “I spoke to the producers, who were very kind and understanding, about the decision I made at the beginning of the year.”

Helen continued, “I have been truly blessed to have been worked with fantastic actors, directors, and a brilliant crew, and to have been given the most incredible scripts week in week out.”

The past 50 years have flown by, and I don’t believe my departure has yet fully sunk in.

Meanwhile, Jack cut a dapper appearance in an off-white suit accompanied by a black bowtie and a pair of dark glasses. And the star was joined by a host of his castmates including Alan Halsall and Colson Smith.

While Jack has been fortunate to survive, it appears he has found a way to deal with the uncertainty. Coronation Street underwent a significant cull earlier this year.

In an interview with the Mirror at the time, he revealed: “You can’t become too settled, because that’s when they’ll let you go! You’ve always got to be prepared that you might get called upstairs and told your character has run its course. “If that happens it’s fine.”

He continued, “I’ve had the good fortune to work for the cast for 25 years, there aren’t many in the cast who have been there that long.” However, you can never rest assured that you are always right.

And it appears as though Jack is more affected by Helen Worth than he had initially believed. Helen Worth never did, he continued, adding: “. She had no idea whether or not her contract would be renewed. I once told her, “of course they will.”

She never seemed confident, though. I’m also the same. Everyone gets nervous when my contract is due for renewal, but I do as well. That is, however, good. When the s**t hits the fan and they say, “you’re done,” it shows that you’re not too comfortable and that you’re always prepared. You can move on to the next step because you are already mentally prepared for it.
