Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has vowed that the state’s traditional institution will support any position the government will adopt as part of the ongoing constitutional amendment process in consultation with the people.

The Emir stated that the traditional institution would review the proposals and provide the necessary input at the 2025 Constitutional Amendment Dialogue held on Thursday at the Kano State Stakeholders’ Dialogue.

“I want to commend the Kano State government for inviting stakeholders to contribute to the constitutional amendment process.

Whatever the government decides will be the position of Kano, for us as Emirs, in consultation with the people. “We will give it our full support,” Sanusi said.

We’ve got until Saturday to look at the document, and if we have any comments, we’ll invite the committee and ask them to take our ideas into consideration before the final presentation.

We urge all other parties involved to do the same, so that the document would benefit from the input of a wide range of stakeholders, which is the goal of this gathering.

Participants had a chance to exchange regional perspectives and make suggestions for changes that would be in line with the Kano people’s values.

Discussions focused on improving the inclusion and responsiveness of grassroots concerns in the constitutional review process.

The high-level stakeholders’ dialogue, which included prominent political figures and traditional leaders, was held to advance Nigeria’s democratic framework through inclusive reforms.
