As she contemplated the uncertainty of 2026 and the lasting grief caused by her sisters’ deaths, Bernie and Linda Nolan, she acknowledged that she has “given up” on one aspect of her life.

Coleen Nolan has admitted that she has “given up” on New Year’s resolutions as she reflected on the uncertainty of the year ahead, calling 2026 “exciting – and a bit scary.”

The singer and television presenter discussed her way of life, her exercise regimen, and the ongoing grief caused by her sisters Linda and Bernie’s passing.

Loose Women and Celebrity Big Brother star Linda, who long campaigned for awareness of breast cancer, died aged 65 in January 2025 after being admitted to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with double pneumonia.

Linda was initially diagnosed in 2005, and her diagnosis was definitive in 2011, but she later learned she had secondary breast cancer in 2017. At the age of 52, Bernie passed away from breast cancer.

Coleen stated in a statement to My Weekly, “I don’t make resolutions for the new year. Because I consistently fail, I’ve given up. In terms of 2026, I kind of prefer to be unsure of what lies ahead. It’s a little scary but incredibly exciting, in my opinion.

The 60-year-old also admitted that despite her enthusiasm, she had been repeatedly overlooked when describing her ongoing ambitions to appear on Strictly Come Dancing. “I’ve always, always wanted to do Strictly,” he said.

“They’ve never asked me – even though I have literally pleaded, begged and put my life on the line for them. I did Dancing on Ice, in 2009, and just thinking about it gives me flashbacks!” she said.

Nolan also described the physical strain involved in running her Staffordshire smallholding over the course of the past year and a half. In the last 18 months, I’ve noticed that I’ve grown in shape.

I purchased a smallholding in Staffordshire, and now have about 30 animals that need to be fed, mucked out, and groomed. I get my exercise from lifting hay bales because it requires real manual labor.

Nolan acknowledged the profound impact of losing two of her sisters, both professionally and personally, in the reflections on her personal life.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Coleen and her sisters Denise, Linda, Bernie, Maureen, and Anne were recording hits like Gotta Pull Myself Together.

The mother-of-three argued that it would be impossible to bring The Nolans back together without them. Without Bernie and Linda, it wouldn’t be appropriate for us to reunite and go back on tour as The Nolans. If it were possible, it would only make me miss them more than I already do, she said.
