Dan Cole, a stalwart of the Tigers of Leicester, will retire after 18 years for personal reasons.

Before stepping down as a recruitment and retention manager after hanging up his boots, Cole, 38, played for the Tigers between 2007 and 2025.

The former Leicester prop made 340 league appearances between 2023 and 2024, breaking the previous record for the club.

Cole said, “I am leaving Tigers with a heavy heart.”

“It has been a privilege to represent this club,” I said. Unfortunately, I’m stepping down because of a change in my personal circumstances, which prevent me from giving the role the attention it deserves as it progresses.

I have no doubts about the club’s strong position for 2026 and beyond, and I wish Geoff, the players, and Mattioli Woods Welford Road a successful future.

He also helped England win three Six Nations titles and 118 other times.

“Dan leaves the club, but his legacy as a player, employee, and most importantly as a person will remain,” said Tigers CEO Andrea Pinchen.

He perfectly captures the club’s focus on the badge, which is embodied in his toughness, passion, and love.
