After video of her kissing her boss Andy Byron, 51, emerged online after a Coldplay concert, Kim Cabot, 53, discovered herself at the center of a national scandal.
Months after the 16-second clip that “ruined her life,” which was circulating online, the woman who was implicated in the Coldplay “kiss cam” scandal has spoken out.
The controversy began in July 2025, when a brief clip from a Coldplay show in Boston showed Cabot, then head of HR at tech company Astronomer, in the arms of her then-boss and CEO, Andy Byron, on a stadium “kiss cam”. As it happened, the band’s frontman Chris Martin quipped, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy”. As soon as the couple saw themselves on the Jumbotron, they both ducked away – but the footage exploded on social media.
What followed was a huge fallout at the company, with both the CEO and Cabot stepping down from their roles after it emerged they were married. Behind the scenes, two families were left reeling over the moment that took the internet by storm. While it appears Andy Bryron is still married to wife Megan Kerrigan, Cabot filed for divorce mere weeks after the fallout. Here, we take a look at Kristin Cabot’s troubled life now after the fall-out…

Career ruined
Cabot was open to admitting her role in what transpired in her first interview since the scandal. She claimed that the incident occurred as a result of drinking “a couple of High Noons,” an alcoholic beverage, and dancing with their boss, which she now describes as a “bad decision.”
“I had a few High Noons because I made a bad decision.” For doing that, I accepted responsibility and gave up my career. That’s the price I paid, she told The New York Times.
The consequences were immediate. On July 24, 2025, Cabot officially resigned from her position at Astronomer, prompting an internal investigation. In response to the controversy, Byron also resigned as CEO.
She admitted regrettably that the moment had destroyed her life, adding with contemptibly, “I’m just a mom from New Hampshire. I’m not some celebrity.” It’s not anyone’s business if I did have an affair.
People have erased everything I’ve accomplished in my life and in my career, and it’s been like a scarlet letter. The word “can’t be the last word.”
Backlash
What started out as a brief but awkward moment quickly turned into a global mess with implications for everyone. Cabot claimed that her family and her husband endured constant online harassment, including death threats and doxxing, with some weeks bringing paparazzi and hundreds of unwanted phone calls a day.
She explained that even her children became hesitant to be with her in public and were concerned for their safety as a result of the scrutiny. The wheels “fell off the cart” as Cabot claimed one voicemail, which was a threatening message her teenage children overheard, was a turning point.
Cabot spent a few days in an Airbnb in the New Hampshire mountains, accepting that she was “too dark a place” to raise a family. She said, “I became a meme, the most hated HR manager in human history,” and I became a meme. I believe I absorbed the majority of the abuse because I am a woman, as women always do. People would claim that I was a “gold-digger” or that I “slept my way to the top,” but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Now, months later, having been told she is ‘unemployable’, she told the Times, the ordeal is not over. As well as her job, she has lost friends, and her kids are too embarrassed to have her take them to school or sports events. She said, “They’re mad at me. And they can be mad at me for the rest of their lives — I have to take that.”
Cabot has also discussed the gendered nature of the backlash, noting that she received more public acclaim and sexist insults than her male counterpart, despite both being in a similar situation.
She claimed that mothers still yell obscenities about her at the school gate, and that strangers also swear swear swear in the street.
Divorce
After the incident, Cabot claimed that he had been “nothing but a gentleman” in the wake of everything that had happened, and that she had filed for divorce from her husband shortly after.
She explained that she and Andy split from their partners, Megan, a school teacher, and her husband, Andrew, the CEO of a family-run distillery, Privateer Rum, about a month before the now-disgusted concert.
Cabot acknowledged that it was amazing to have someone else experience it at the same time as you can talk to.
She revealed that her feelings for her boss soon grew into “a big happy crush” and that she offered him one of her two free tickets to see Coldplay.
She also revealed that her 14-year-old daughter had texted her that her estranged second husband, Andrew, would be there on a first date the night before the incident, only to discover from a friend that he was there.
Kristin decided amid the immediate fallout that she wanted her children to know before anyone else, but said her daughter “burst into tears, saying, ‘I guess that means you really are getting divorced then'”. While her son tried to convince her that the whole debacle would “probably go away”.
The mother claims that their communication has since slowed as a result of their recent communication, describing how the two have grown closer together since.
Cabot expressed her hope that her experience can be used as a teaching moment, especially for her children, despite the professional setback and widespread acclaim.
The mother said she wants them to understand that people shouldn’t be subject to death threats or threats to their families’ safety because they can make mistakes and actually screw things up.
She jokingly acknowledged in the powerful interview that she wishes for the future by saying, “We have to be kind to one another and not torment one another.”
