After getting involved in the whole scandal with a PR video, the woman who appeared in the infamous Coldplay kisscam video has criticized Gwyneth Paltrow as a “hyprocrite.”
The woman outed on the Coldplay kiss cam, Kristin Cabot, has slammed Gwyneth Paltrow for getting involved in her viral affair drama. The former Astronomer executive, 53, opened up for the first time in a heartbreaking interview about her utter panic after seeing the video, as millions around the world watched the mum cosying up to married CEO Andy Byron on the jumbotron before trying to hide.
As the moment played out around the world, Hollywood actress Gwyneth, also 53, who has made millions through her wellness company Goop, starred as a “temporary spokesperson” for Astronomer in a PR parody video and Kristin took umbrage with the fact that she put her name to it in the fist place.
I was so impressed by her business, which seemed to be about supporting women, that I felt. Then she did this. What a hypocrite! I thought, “How dare she after the beating she received for all the conscious uncoupling stuff”!

To show just how furious she was with the Shallow Hal star, who famously used the term “conscious uncoupling” when she split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin over a decade ago, Kristin threw out all of the Goop products she owned. Speaking to the Times of the life-changing moment at a July Coldplay concert, during which frontman Chris Martin quipped, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy” as the pair attempted to hide their faces, the Boston-based mother confessed that everything just “flashed” before her in that moment.
The 16-second clip, filmed by another concertgoer and posted to TikTok, was widely believed to have caught Cabot and Byron, her married boss who was holding her from behind in the video, cheating – and swiftly became one of the most viral videos of all time.
Mother-of-two Kristin from New Hampshire has now made the first public statement about the scandal and described the destruction that it has caused her. I could have been struck by lightning, I could have won the lottery, or something else could have happened.
She admitted sadly that the moment had destroyed her life and that she was just a New Hampshire mother. It’s not anyone’s business if I did have an affair. People have erased everything I’ve accomplished in my life and in my career, sort of like a scarlet letter. The word “can’t be the last word.”
She claims it was the first time the couple physically embraced, but millions of people watched it after it was flashed up on a big screen in front of 50 000 or so gig-goers.
Kristin decided amid the immediate fallout that she wanted her children to know before anyone else, but said her daughter “burst into tears, saying, ‘I guess that means you really are getting divorced then’”. While her son tried to convince her that the whole debacle would “probably go away”.
Kristin acknowledged that she was “too dark a place” to parent and that she spent a few days staying at an Airbnb in the mountains of New Hampshire. She said, “I became a meme, the most detested HR manager in human history.
“I believe I took the majority of the abuse because I am a woman, as women always do.” I was a “gold-digger,” or “slept my way to the top,” was what people would say, which was completely false.
She told the Times that the ordeal is still ongoing, but months later, she claimed, having been told that she is “unemployable.”
As well as her job, she has lost friends, and her kids are too embarrassed to have her take them to school or sports events. She said, “They’re mad at me. And they can be mad at me for the rest of their lives — I have to take that.” As well as horrific online abuse, she said mothers still gossip about her at the school gate – and strangers shout nasty abuse in the street.
She jokingly acknowledged in the interview that she wishes for the future by saying, “We have to be kind to one another and not torment one another.”
