As she leaves her position on the popular BBC dance competition, Claudia Winkelman will be able to spend more time with her teenage daughter Matilda.
Claudia Winkleman will be no doubt looking forward to spending her Saturday nights with her family following her shock exit from Strictly Come Dancing after 12 years. The TV presenter has been at the helm of the hit BBC dance competition for over a decade, with her filming every Saturday night from September through the run up to Christmas.
Her daughter Matilda Thykier will surely be thrilled at having her famous mum around more as she bows out to the show at the end of this series. While rumours swirl over Claudia and her co-star Tess Daly’s next ventures, it seems Matilda doesn’t have any plans to follow them into the entertainment industry.
The 19-year-old daughter of Claudia and her husband Kris Thykier is a chemistry student at Bath University and is just beginning her second year of studies. She appears to be enjoying her time studying, even letting her three-month summer break reside in Copenhagen.

As she once once told Grazia, “She’s a very clever girl,” Traitors host Claudia has gushed about Matilda’s work ethic and intelligence. Some of the work she does is sent to me. I’m like, ‘ What? How? Pardon”?
Matilda’s situation, however, changed as a result of her horror accident on Halloween. She was left with horrifying burns in her costume in 2014 after the fires broke out in her home.
When Matilda’s witch costume brushed up against a candle while trick or treating, she was just eight years old. The incident has even been hailed as “life changing” by Claudia.
She claimed to having just heard her scream while talking to someone to BBC Watchdog. She simply screamed “Mummy,” and I turned around, turning her into a flame.
“Everyone was screaming,” She screamed and the entire crowd screamed; it seems as though she was going to be on fire for hours, but the surgeon determined that wasn’t the case and that it was probably only seconds.
The only way I can describe it is, “But she went up,” It wasn’t as bright as the fire I’d previously seen. She continued, “We couldn’t put her out,” recalling the terrifying experience. We couldn’t remove her, just like if my shirt caught fire or anything else.
They came back to life thanks to the tights. It was similar to burning a bunch of terrible birthday candles that then comes back. It’s life-changing but not life-defining, Claudia said when discussing Matilda’s burns. For me, it had a profound impact. Before it, I can’t recall life.
Jake, 21, and Arthur, 13, are both proud parents to Claudia. She reportedly has been wanting to spend more time with her family since she left her BBC Radio 2 show last year.
She said, “My daughter is about to leave home and she was three about five minutes ago. I just need to be at home more, and I still have a young child who wants to be with me.
Last week, Tess and Claudia announced their breakup from Strictly together, which shocked the audience. As Claudia said, “There have been some rumblings and we want you to hear this from us,” they recorded a video to announce the news.
After 21 wonderfully joyful years on Strictly, we have now decided that it’s time to step aside and assume the role of the overlord.
Since our children were sexy babies in arms when we were younger, and now that they are adults, I believe we have cherished every second.
We have, we’re so fortunate to have been a part of this amazing show, and we just want to thank the Strictly team, because that’s who makes it.
