Soap star Claire Sweeney could divide her fans as she has revealed her stunning Christmas tree and decorations already as there’s still seven weeks to go until the big day
Claire Sweeney is set to face the wrath of some fans as she gets into the festive spirit already. The Brookside actress, 54, has decided to add a bit of cheer to her home ahead of Christmas.
In a move that could be considered way too early for some, Claire has decked out her house with a dazzling Christmas tree. She has gone all out with red and gold decorations.
The soap star has filled her living room with ornaments, having added red baubles and ribbons to her mantlepiece. Despite there still being a while to go till the big day, Claire reasoned: “Xmas adverts are on so the tree can go up.”

She added: “Thank you so much @Maddisonjcreations… My tree is stunning.” Traditionally, Christmas trees go up on Advent Sunday, which is the fourth Sunday before the 25th December.
However, for those opting for a real tree they tend to wait till early to mid December to keep them as fresh as possible. Claire’s post comes just weeks after she attended her ex-boyfriend Ricky Hatton’s funeral and broke down in tears.
The boxing legend was laid to rest last month at an emotional funeral in Manchester. Claire dated the tragic former world champion who was found dead aged 46 at his Hyde home on September 14.
The Coronation Street favourite shared a touching tribute to Ricky in which she told fans she “adored” the boxing legend. Her post included a video montage along with the soundtrack of Elvis Presley’s If I Can Dream.
Ricky and Claire went from being friends to lovers and back to being friends again following a whirlwind eight-month relationship. They dated last year before things cooled between them just before Christmas – but it is clear they stayed close.
Despite knowing each other for many years, it was only after their stint on ITV’s Dancing On Ice that rumours of a budding romance began to swirl, following a series of pub dates spotted in Manchester. Their first public appearance as a couple came in May 2024, when they graced the red carpet at the grand opening of the Co-op Live Arena in the city they both loved.
Claire said: “I’ve needed a few days to process the devastating news about my dear friend Ricky. My thoughts are with his family especially his children Campbell, Millie Fearne and Lyla, his granddaughter.
“To them, Speaky and to all his friends who loved him so deeply and for so many years I send you my deepest sympathy. Ricky, you were the people’s champ. We adored and cherished you. Love you always,” she said.
A source told the Mirror at the time of Claire and Ricky being on Dancing on ice: “The chemistry was electric. Ricky went out of the show early on but he contacted her afterwards and let’s say he started wooing her. They’ve been out on several dates.”
They added: “They’ve been seeing each other quite a bit. He is completely besotted. It seems like an unlikely match but he’s always had a way with women. They fall for his personality, and Claire has. He knows her number one priority is her son so they are being very careful. Let’s watch this space.”
