After their bodies were discovered at their home in Hoover, Alabama, the son of sports reporter Christina Chambers led his grandfather to their bodies.
The orphaned son of a TV star led his grandfather to his parents’ bodies. At their home in Hoover, Alabama, sports reporter Christina Chambers, 38, and her husband Johnny Rimes, 41, were discovered shot dead with gunshot wounds.
Their deaths, according to local police, were a murder-suicide. However, their three-year-old son was unharmed and able to escape the tragedy. Now, reports claim that their son led his grandfather to his parents’ bodies.
After they failed to attend a nearby church event, Johnny’s father, according to neighbors, had come to the family home to check on them. The three-year-old was the one who answered the door.
Charles Maple, Johnny and Christina’s neighbor, claimed that the child “answered the door.” He claimed that he was informed of this heartbreaking revelation by the local police. “And then they went back in [into the home] and they discovered the bodies,” said Maple.
It’s heartbreaking,” she says. “The couple moved in about seven years ago, and they frequently appeared content and content parents.” However, Mr. Maple claims that Johnny and Christina’s feelings weren’t working out right after the birth of their son.
He said, “I just felt something wrong.” He never expressed any concern for the safety of the child, and Christina never expressed concern for her own safety, though. He described seeing the police at the house after their deaths as “I was so shocked but for some reason, I don’t know why, I wasn’t completely shocked.”
The relative made the tragic discovery at 9am on Tuesday morning, and police were called to the couple’s home. The Hoover Police Department confirmed that Christina and Johnny had died from gunshot wounds when they arrived at the residence.
Although the investigation is still in its early stages, it appears that these deaths were the result of a murder/suicide and that this case poses no threat to the general public. Christina worked for ten years on the local news station WBRC, where she paid tribute to the presenter.
They stated in a statement to ABC 33.40 that they were “heartbroken to confirm Christina Chambers’ passing.” Christina was a valued member of our newsroom and a beloved colleague whose warmth, humor, and love of sports had a lasting effect on everyone who worked with her.
The statement continued, “Christina was a skilled journalist and athlete who brought professionalism, genuine care, and energy to her work.” She was particularly proud of her community, high school sports, and ties to UAB [University of Alabama Birmingham]. In this extremely difficult time, we are praying for Christina’s family, friends, and loved ones.
Additionally, on Tuesday, colleagues honored each other in a news release. Knowing Christina, a former colleague said, “was knowing joy.” She began working for Fox News’ affiliate WBRC in November 2015, where she concentrated on sports at college and regional high school football games in Alabama and Georgia.
She began teaching children at a nearby school after marrying Johnny and giving them advice on TV and film. She also continued working as a freelance journalist. Their deaths are still being investigated.
