Moses Martin and his band, People I’ve Met, have been snapped up by Interscope Records and have released their first single, Promise, as the vocalist follows in his dad’s footsteps
Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s son is following in his father’s footsteps by founding his own band and getting a record deal.
Moses Martin, 19, is a vocalist and guitarist for his New York-based band People I’ve Met, which he founded with his friends Andrew Suster and Orlando Wiltshire. Now the band, which was called Dancer before they changed their name, has released their first single, Promise, after being snapped up by Interscope Records.
The record label represents a diverse roster of artists across pop, hip-hop, R&B, and rock genres, with the likes of Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem signed up to it. Moses’ vocals are similar to his father’s – and in 2016, he even joined Coldplay on stage at Glastonbury.

The Sun first reported the news, and the official website for People I’ve Met has suggested the band are gearing up to tour “soon”. Chris’ and Gwyneth’s son has also sung on some Coldplay tunes and written on tracks All My Love, Orphans and The Astronaut. His older sister, Apple Martin, 21, has also launched her music career after she was a featured artist on indie rock duo Jade Street’s single Satellites.
After performing the song live in Nashville, Tennessee, last October, she admitted that despite being the child of two famous people, she has always been encouraged to work hard. She said: “I know this is not a normal way to grow up by any means. But my parents did a really good job of instilling in me that I shouldn’t be entitled to anything. I have to work.”
Since sharing their most recent Instagram post, featuring their single, People I’ve Met have been praised by fans online. One asked: “Is there new music coming in the near future? If we get an album filled with songs like this I would be a very happy man.”
“Like very much this song,” another said. “Driving down the road, singing this with my daughter today,” a third wrote. One asked: “Any London gigs soon?”
Chris and Gwyneth split in 2014 before getting a divorce, but have remained on good terms. Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth previously shared her pride over Moses being a musician in a tribute for his birthday on Instagram in April last year.
She wrote at the time: “Happy birthday [Moses]. Honestly, you are a dream come true. You are deeply kind and brilliant.” She continued by writing to him: “You have an incredible intellect and you are so gifted, so talented. I listen to your music on repeat and miss you so much at college. And today more than ever. I love you my boy.”
It comes as Gwyneth, who plays Kay Stone in Marty Supreme, said Moses “wanted to die” while watching her sex scenes with Timothée Chalamet at the Los Angeles premiere of the movie. During a Q&A session for the film, held at San Vicente Bungalows in West Hollywood on January 9, Gwyneth shared the reaction of her son.
She told Demi Moore, who participated in the Q&A: “Oh my God! My poor son.” She added: “Can you imagine when he came to the premiere in LA? He wanted to die.”
The actress, whose sex scenes were guided by an intimacy coordinator, previously told Vanity Fair : “I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie. There’s a lot – a lot.”
