After signing from Brentford until 2030, with an option for a further year, Cameroon winger Bryan Mbeumo said he “grew up wearing” the Manchester United shirt on Monday.
Mbeumo, 25, will reportedly cost the 20-time Premier League champions an initial sum of $65 million ($87 million), despite conceding 20 goals in 38 league games for the Bees last season.
Before United’s improved offer made the move possible, Tottenham, who is now under the management of former Brentford boss Thomas Frank, were also interested in the France-born attacker.
United’s third offer, which included an initial $65 million and add-ons worth $ 6 million, was accepted last week.

In a statement from Manchester United, Mbeumo said, “I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams.”

In an effort to prevent a repeat of last year’s disastrous display, United coach Ruben Amorim has signed two more players this summer.
Their worst performance in the top flight since 1973-74 was suffered by them when they lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final.
Both Wolves’ forward Matheus Cunha and teen Paraguayan defender Diego Leon have both moved to Old Trafford.
‘Primary target’,  
Last year, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggled as Amorim’s main strikers.
According to Mbeumo, “My mentality is always better than I was yesterday.”
I am aware of my spirit and character as I continue to learn from Ruben Amorim and compete with other world-class players.
Mbeumo, who left French side Troyes in 2019 and made 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 appearances during his six years at Brentford, blossomed.
According to Brentford director of football Phil Giles, “there is always a right time for a player to move on,” and Bryan’s time is now.

Mbeumo was a key player in the Bees’ impressive 20th-place finish in 2024 and helped them reclaim promotion to the Premier League in 2021.
Before the pre-season tour, Red Devils football director of football Jason Wilcox expressed his delight at having one more of his top goals.

Marcus Rashford will leave his boyhood club for Barcelona, according to reports that could be made on Tuesday.
Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia are not expected to make the tour squad for the US. They are still looking for new clubs.
Before United’s opening game of the new Premier League season against Arsenal on August 17, United face West Ham on Sunday before beginning their pre-season tour of the United States against West Ham.
