The Kansas City Chiefs will travel to a new stadium in the state of Kansas from where they reside.

In a statement, the Chiefs announced that they would relocate to Wyandotte County, which is west of Kansas City in the state’s border, where a new $3.2 billion (£2.25 billion) stadium will be constructed in time for the 2031 season.

The Chiefs have played at Arrowhead Stadium since 1972, but they will change after Kansas’s legislatures approve.

According to Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt, “Today is an extraordinary day in the history of the Kansas City Chiefs.”

“We are thrilled to work with the State of Kansas to provide our fans with a top-notch stadium. This project adds to our fan-first philosophy and innovation legacy.

In Kansas, the project will also include the addition of a new Chiefs’ team headquarters and training facility.
