Phil Kirk, 59, the co-owner of Chesterfield, passed away.
Kirk, who co-founded the League Two team in 2022 with his brother and co-owner Ashley, was informed in March that he had been diagnosed with cancer.
After receiving no success in his previous treatment, he recently entered palliative care.
The club stated in a statement that their thoughts “are with Phil’s family and friends” and that they were “confirming the news with great sadness.”
