With his unexpected sex club confessions and stripping off for television, Chesney Hawkes shocked Celebrity Big Brother fans. His wife, Krissy, and daughter, Jesse, sit down to exclusively reveal what the actor is like in the shadows of his own eyes and how they react to the media coverage he’s garnered.
He’s been making waves since he entered the Celebrity Big Brother house with his shock confessions and penchant for wandering around in the buff. Pop star Chesney Hawkes has been married to Krissy since 1997 and as we catch up with his wife – as well as their 21-year-old daughter, student Jesse – it’s clear they couldn’t be prouder of the One And Only singer, who is also dad to Casey, 23, and Indi, 19.
Here, Krissy and Jesse talk about what fans would be surprised to know about 53-year-old Chesney and what Krissy really makes of his saucy confession to housemates that they had once been in a sex club where he was whipped by “a very muscly butch guy in a thong” – and then by her!

What was it like to watch Chesney compete in the Big Brother Celebrity House?
Kristina: Chesney is Chesney. You get what you see.
Jesse: He is truly his own.
What about him in public would surprise people the most?
Jesse: You can tell how awkward he is.
Krissy: Chesney still manages to regularly break these “unbreakable” plates, despite the fact that my mother actually bought us from the US. Our family has a timeless tale that dates back to the day our parents were married in Indiana. Chesney ran to catch a wiffle ball while we were playing wiffle ball in the backyard.

You were present when he entered the house, Jesse. What was the outcome of that encounter?
Jesse: Surreal. I’m at uni so I don’t see him that often. Seeing him walk up that stage was very emotional.
When he said he was producing the show, what did you think?
Krissy: It was undoubtedly unexpected. Chesney does, however, have a talent for challenging things. Additionally, a close friend of his who passed away in January had told him to “just say yes to things,” which really gave him a boost.
Jesse: He was unsure at first, then he really went for it. I was proud of him for saying yes to something so out of his comfort zone.
Has anything about what he’s been up to so far surprised you?
The father dancing, Krissy. Although I’ve always called him an amazing singer, dancing is not his strong suit.
Jesse: Yes, very “dad dance” vibes.
Let’s talk about Chesney doing naked for television.
Jesse: Good for him. It’s a little weird for me as his daughter, but it’s his thing. He’s just really free. I can’t be biased just because I’m his kid.
Krissy: It comes from the phrase, “I’m 53 and, in his words, f**k it!” I’m not interested in what others think. He is only interested in being in nature and feeling free, and he is not nudisting or going around the house naked. It’s about avoiding taking yourself too seriously.
Chesney and Krissy both said that you were whipping him during a sex club encounter…
Krissy: Okay, let’s make that clear: it wasn’t really a sex club. We went upstairs to a bar in LA for a while and asked, “Why not?” Not something we regularly have scheduled on our calendar, it was a one-time, spontaneous moment. It’s all about spontaneity and fun for us.
Considerably capable, do you think he will prevail?
Jesse: I mean, part of me wants him to be evicted so I can see him again. Jokes aside though, I want him to go far. He seems really happy.
Yes, he’s enjoying the experience, Krissy. Once he’s started something, he wants to see things through.
What aspect of the CBB house, in your opinion, has he found the most challenging?
Krissy: I’m far from home. We have a long, friendly conversation.
Jesse: He struggles even when he’s on tour and has a day’s worth of signal loss. We haven’t spoken in a while as of this point. We each received a jacket from him to wear in the living room, which is really sweet.
In the house, with whom has he most bonded?
Krissy: Given that he is very real, I think any connection he makes is real. I witnessed him chatting with JoJo Siwa and Danny [Beard] and Angellica [Bell] and consuming tea and facemasks.
Jesse: I don’t think he could laugh at a good joke with anyone.
Who in there is not your thing to enjoy or Chesney might not?
Jesse: There was – Mickey Rourke. I wasn’t a fan.
No one specifically, Krissy, but if someone is disruptive, such as waking up at night, he would be shut down.
JoJo was made a controversial sexual remark by Mickey to her. How did it make you feel, Jesse, that your father had mentioned that you were a member of the LGBTQ+ community?
Jesse: When Mickey said that thing to JoJo – and my dad had previously mentioned that I, his kid, am part of the community – a lot of people got mad at him for not speaking up. But you don’t see everything. You see 45 minutes out of his 24-hour day and he’s the type of person who would have stepped in if needed. He would’ve spoken up. I really don’t like people saying bad things about my dad on that topic or saying I’d be disappointed in him – because I wouldn’t. It was making me upset seeing those comments because they don’t know what happened in there.
What would a message contain if you could sneak it in?
Jesse: I’m so proud of him, and I’m stressed out about my dissertation!
What aspect of Chesney do you find most lacking?
Krissy, I long for those physical touches and hugs that led to our conversation.
Which housemates are you anticipating meeting?
Because we are the same age, Jesse says JoJo.
Krissy and Danny seem amicable, as do Preston and Angellica.
When Chesney arrives home, what will he do first?
Krissy: Sit on the stairs and let the dogs climb all over him. We have two – a big one called Finn, who he says is the love of his life, and a little one, Mischief.
