Cheryl Tweedy was terrified after Daniel Bannister repeatedly turned up at her home, and “displayed fixated, obsessive, unwanted and repetitive behaviour” towards the Girls Aloud singer

Cheryl Tweedy’s stalker was secretly freed from jail having served just three months, it is reported.

Daniel Bannister, 51, left the Girls Aloud singer terrified by turning up four times at the house she shares with son Bear, eight, including on an occasion when the star was grieving the loss of her former partner, Liam Payne.

But, although he was jailed last year, it is understood Bannister was released early in recent weeks. It had been feared Bannister could target Cheryl again — but the stalker was snagged this week in south London. The criminal was spotted breaking rules in his halfway house, a bail hostel in the capital, as it is believed alcohol was found in his room there.

So last night, Bannister was back behind bars, a welcome conclusion for Cheryl, 42, who “immediately panicked” on one occasion in 2024 when she saw the intruder outside her home in Buckinghamshire.

All lags released on licence are required to “be of good behaviour” but Bannister broke the rules at his halfway house, it is understood. Last night, an HM Prison and Probation Service spokesperson told The Sun: “As this case shows, we do not hesitate to send offenders back to prison where necessary if they break the rules.”

When Bannister appeared in court in connection with the Cheryl case, it was heard Bannister was jailed for 30 months in 2012 — for manslaughter after attacking a man who died of his injuries. Following the emergence of grim details, the singer told the court in a statement: “I was concerned he was looking for a way into the property.”

But the mum of one bravely overcame this trauma — and the loss of Bear — in a poignant last few years. She recently looked radiant in a video as part of her partnership with Nivea UK. Speaking about this link on social media, Cheryl said: “I’ve really noticed the difference in my skin. It’s glowy. There’s no fuss, no drama. Just science doing its thing. It’s a new era for me and I’m ready.”

The songstress, from Walker, Newcastle, took a “trip down memory lane” to promote the skincare brand. Cheryl was announced as the face of its new Cellular Epigenetics Age Rewind Serum last year and fronts the campaign, which marked her TV comeback following her late former partner Liam’s death.
