Chelsea face Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League game at Stamford Bridge while Cole Palmer is fit to play there.

The 23-year-old forward missed the victories over Burnley and Barcelona after toe-strain injury sustained when he slammed his toe on a door last week.

This season, the England international has had to play just five games out of a possible five.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca stated, “He is available to start.”

Everyone is happy, the team-mates are happy, the players are all happy, and Cole is happy because he wants to play football and attends training every day.

Maresca suggested last week that Palmer might not want to play until this Sunday’s game, which starts at 16:30 GMT.

The Blues, who are currently tied with the Gunners and will close the gap at the top three points with a win, would have suffered a significant blow from his absence.

Chelsea have won all 13 games since then, winning 10, losing two, and drawing one, with Palmer last featured in a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United on September 20.

He signed for Manchester City for an initial $ 40 million in September 2023, and he has now scored 22 goals in his debut season and added 15 more last term, topping Chelsea’s scoring chart.

In Palmer’s absence, Estevao Willian, a summer signing, has scored five goals in all competitions, and Maresca suggested the pair could play together.

According to Maresca, “It depends on the game plan.”

Analysis

Before the top-of-the-table match, Palmer’s return does cause some controversy for Chelsea’s in-form players and adds another concern for visiting Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Palmer has been declared fit, but whether or not he should start remains to be seen. Chelsea have shown that Cole Palmer has no longer the right title, winning 10 of his 13 games while he has been a spectator.

While fellow wingers Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho are improving, Estevao and Pedro Neto are both in impressive form. Chelsea has the most goals and assists overall in Enzo Fernandez.
