Borussia Dortmund has permission to fly Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino to Germany in order to complete moves that will increase player sales at Stamford Bridge this summer beyond a ‘$ 270 million mark.

Chukwuemeka, age 21, signed for a fee of about £24 million with a significant sell-on clause after spending the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund.

RB Leizpig expressed interest in the England Under-20 international, but he is currently completing his return.

That deal would bring Chelsea’s summer player sales to a top-tier $ 273.4 million, which almost makes up for the $ 270 million that was spent on incoming transfers.

Chelsea must maintain a positive transfer balance this summer in order to be able to sign their new signings for the Champions League this season.

It comes after they were fined £26.7 million for breaking Uefa’s football earnings guidelines and had a squad cost ratio of over 80% of their income split up in wages.

Anselmino has also agreed to join Dortmund on a season-long loan without any of the option to purchase clauses.

In order to play the minutes he needs to develop in the Chelsea first-team squad, manager Enzo Maresca informed the Argentine defender.

He moves to Dortmund to cover the recent injuries of defenders Niklas Sule, Emre Can, and Nico Schlotterbeck, but he continues to play a significant role in Stamford Bridge’s future plans.

Anselmino made just one substitute appearance at the Club World Cup after joining the west Londoners from Boca Juniors for £15.6 million in January, making 32 appearances for Chelsea since making a £20m move from Aston Villa in 2022.

In the nine days that remain until the transfer window, Chelsea are interested in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons and Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
