Holders Chelsea defeated Liverpool 9-1 to reach the Women’s League Cup semi-finals, while Manchester City, who had last year lost to them, also advanced with a significant win.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd added a hat-trick and Sam Kerr scored the opening two goals for Chelsea.

Sjoeke Nusken and Millie Bright also had their names on the score sheet, with Wieke Kaptein scoring twice.

Liverpool are rooted at the bottom of the Women’s Super League and have failed to win any of their last four games, according to Jenna Clark, who brought her home.

After winning 5-1 against West Ham on Sunday, Chelsea will face Manchester City at home in the semi-finals.

Before Riko Ueki’s fierce strike in the 26th minute gave West Ham a brief hope, Kerolin and Lauren Hemp put Man City 2-0 up in the opening 10 minutes.

Both Man Utd and Arsenal advanced.

The semi-final lineup includes Manchester United, Chelsea, and Chelsea, who defeated Tottenham 2-1.

Arsenal were unable to increase their lead after 20 minutes thanks to Laia Codina’s looping header until Stina Blackstenius scored in stoppage time.

At the VBS Community Stadium, Crystal Palace, the only Barclays WSL 2 side left, played in front of a record crowd of 3, 040 people.

Meanwhile, United won a close game 2-1 over Tottenham in a thrilling 3-3 WSL game last weekend.

Spurs opened the scoring thanks to Drew Spence, but Jess Park and Fridolina Rolfo’s late goals allowed Marc Skinner’s side to advance.
