Chelsea, the Premier League side, have named Liam Rosenior as their new head coach in place of Enzo Maresca.
The Englishman, who has a contract until 2032, described himself as “extremely humbled and honored to be appointed” in a club statement on Tuesday.
He continued, “This club has a special spirit and a long history of winning trophies.” In order to keep winning trophies, my job is to preserve that identity and build a team that embodies these values in every game we compete against.
Rosenior confirmed reaching a verbal agreement with Chelsea during a prior Strasbourg news conference.
He said, “I’m here because I care about this club and felt it was appropriate to respond to your questions in person today before I leave.”
Rosenior added that he would travel to the Premier League team with his assistants, Justin Walker and Kalifa Cisse.
After stints at Derby County and Hull City, the 41-year-old said his time at Racing Strasbourg had been his most rewarding experience of his career.
Rosenior remarked, “The last 18 months have been the best and most enjoyable times in my professional career.” “I’ve made history, had incredible memories, and met some incredible people.”
He claimed that he had been open about outside interests with Strasbourg’s owners.
“I have had interest from a number of clubs, including Champions League clubs,” Rosenior said of our ownership. “I can’t turn down Chelsea, but I will love this club for the rest of my life.”
Since Maresca was fired on Thursday, Little-Known Rosenior had been widely touted as the front-runner, not least because BlueCo owns both Strasbourg and Chelsea, and that is how it was known.
