Scottish Open Swimming Championships

Date: 27-29 June at Royal Commonwealth Pool, Edinburgh

One year after being diagnosed with brain cancer, Archie Goodburn, who has been diagnosed with brain cancer, has won gold in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Scottish Swimming Championships.

Rafe Dobson, a 24-year-old University of Edinburgh student, fought off the challenge in a comfortable one-minute, 2.42 seconds at Edinburgh’s Royal Commonwealth Pool.

Goodburn entered the race as a strong favorite after finishing second overall at the British Championships in the 50-meter race in April. He is currently training for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2016 and the World University Games in 2020.

This weekend, he will also be aiming to defend his Scottish 50-meter breaststroke crown.

Brentford reject Man Utd’s new £62.5m Mbeumo bid

Bryan Mbeumo’s improved bid for Manchester United, valued at up to £62.5 million, was turned down by Brentford.

United have bid £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons for the 25-year-old.

The Cameroon forward’s bid of £45 million plus up to £10 million in add-ons was turned down earlier this month.

Since signing forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62,5 million, United are looking to add goals to their side.

Before agreeing to the sale of a player with a year left on his contract, sources claim Brentford would want at least the same upfront payment as Wolves did for Cunha.

Last season, Mbeumo added nine assists and scored a career-high 20 goals for Brentford.

There may be competition from other Champions League clubs, with Thomas Frank, who recently took over as Tottenham manager, looking to reunite with Mbeumo.

Because of Cameroon’s participation in the Morocco-Africa Cup of Nations, Mbeumo, an international partner of United goalkeeper Andre Onana, is likely to miss four weeks of the campaign for 2025-26.

On December 24th, Cameroon take on Gabon in their opening group game.

Mbeumo left French side Troyes for Brentford in 2019, while the Bees were still in the championship.

Taylor Fritz, the world’s number five, won the tournament’s fourth Eastbourne final, continuing his excellent form in the lead up to Wimbledon.

In a 6-3,3-6,1-6 final against fellow American Jenson Brooksby on Saturday, the defending champion defeated Spanish world number 28 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Brooksby, who lost in the second round of qualifying, is hoping to make it on to a fairytale run to Eastbourne.

Ugo Humbert, the fourth seed from France, defeated the world number 149 6-3, 3-7, earlier on Friday, from set down.

One of the favorites for the Wimbledon title is Fritz, who defeated world number three Alexander Zverev in the final of the Stuttgart Open 12 days ago.

On Monday, he will face French world number 36 Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who was a quarter-finalist last year.

With the recent victories of three of the previous five editions, Fritz has recently won the Eastbourne men’s singles title.

After bad light had delayed his second-round tie the previous day, he won two matches on Thursday.

In his on-court interview, Fritz stated, “I always feel like things are going to work out for me because they always do for some reason here.”
